It was around 1200BC when Aphrodite (which means “foam born”). Goddess of Love and Beauty emerged from the gentle jade-colored seafoam at Petra Tou Romiou, a boulder that juts up from the south coast of Cyprus as majestically today as it did then.
The island pays tributes to this mythical goddess in many ways, like keeping the mystical stories of the Greek Gods alive, but most notably is the preservation of the Baths of Aphrodite, the tranquil site hidden away in Paphos, north Cyprus and where she met up with her beloved Adonis.
Although Aphrodite may be one of the strongest defining moments when calling Cyprus the island of love, the truth also lies in the finer details of this beautiful place.
